What can’t Viola Davis do?
The Academy, Tony and Emmy Award-winning actress will soon add author to her ranks as she has announced she’s writing a sequel to the children’s book called Corduroy Takes a Bow, revealed People Magazine.
Corduroy Takes a Bow is a continuation of Corduroy by Don Freeman, which was published in 1968 and was a source of inspiration for Davis when she was a child.
“When I was a little girl, it wasn’t often that I found myself reflected in the pages of a book,” she told PEOPLE in a statement. “Corduroy was an exception, and I adored flipping through it. To be able to introduce a new generation, including my daughter, to this character that was so special to me in my childhood is an incredible honor.”
I am thrilled to share the cover for my first book, and writing for the iconic Corduroy Bear. The book comes out in September and I can’t wait for you all to read it. #CorduroyTakesABow #CorduroyBear https://t.co/Mi60R54WNx pic.twitter.com/HtjK2J4ye0

The first book told the story of a teddy bear in search of a missing button and in Take a Bow the lovable teddy bear will be going to the theater for the first time.
The follow-up will be released on Sept. 4, 2018, and coincides with the 50th-anniversary release of Corduroy.
